Party at the 'Plex

Next Sunday we are having a little get together at the new 'plex to celebrate a few family milestones. We've always hated putting together guest lists - don't want to exclude anyone but also don't want to make anyone feel obligated to come to something they don't want to go to in the first place. I even stretched our wedding out an extra day in an attempt to have one event that didn't include a guest list so this is nothing new. Anyway, that's a rather long way of saying the following: If the invite missed you for whatever dumb reason but you'd like to join us, please, please feel free to come by. But also don't feel obligated to come, if you have something else to do or just don't feel up to it - there'll be no hurt feelings. Maybe just let us know so we can plan to have the right amount of food & drink.

Below is the invitation. I wanted to post it here because of all the babble above but also because of the possibility of future editions of the blog book - I thought it might be fun to read again many years down the road.

Party Face-off: LT Campbell vs. Dennis Kozlowski

Which party would you rather go to? Below are some key details to help you decide.

Kozlowski's party was a week long event on the Italian island of Sardinia held in honor of his second wife's 40th birthday.
Our party will be a few hours (or however long the little ones can go) and is being held in honor of my first wife's 30th and LT's *very 1st* birthday. It's also a chance to help us to celebrate moving into our new house (which has no $6,000 shower curtains).

Kozlowski's party cost well into seven figures ($2.1 million)
We planning to spend two, maybe even three, figures.

Kozlowski's party featured an ice-sculpture copy of Michelangelo's "David" pouring vodka from its... um.... well... you get the idea.
I'll buy some ice from 7-11 and dump it in a bucket to chill drinks.

Kozlowski charged his company, Tyco, for half the cost of the party saying that it was a shareholder event (about half the guests were Tyco employees).
If E-Faz comes, then there will be a couple Ping employees here. Maybe if we talk shop for a few minutes, I could get my company to foot the bill...

Kozlowski was sentenced to up to 25 years in prison for defrauding Tyco shareholders out of hundreds of millions of dollars (the party was part of that).
Bowen got a $25 ticket for being off leash in a park once.

Kozlowski's party featured body builders dressed in skin-toned Speedos, models dressed as gladiators, dancing nymphs, and toga clad guests.
You are welcome to wear a toga to LT's party if you want. But please please *please* no Speedos (skin-toned or otherwise).

Jimmy Buffett performed live at Kozlowski's party at a cost of $250,000.
We'll have Jimmy and tons of other big name stars for $1/song thanks to iTunes.

Kozlowski made his yacht and its staff available to party guests.
LT will make his staff (I guess that's Kar and I) and some of his toys available to party guests.

Kozlowski requested that no gifts be brought for his wife.
Please, no gifts for Kar or LT (no housewarming gifts either).

You weren't invited to the Kozlowski/Tyco party.
But you *are* invited to come help celebrate the following milestones:
- LT turns one in early June.
- Kari turns thirty in early July.
- In late May we moved into a new house (same 'hood but a little to the north).

Hope to see y'all there!
