State for A

I took Ads to his state meet and Brian took LT.  I didn't take any other photos, but this was in the heating area, Ads dancing with his team.  Before each event, the heat was accompanied by a song blaring on the speakers as the groups walked over to the blocks.  It made this meet feel bigger and more important than the regular meets (and it is!)

Welcome home LT!

I have stories from LT's adventures away, but no photos (yet at least).  What I do know is that his brothers missed him and welcomed him home with a huge sign and a pokemon Pickachu cake).

Fancy Lake

For the past year, A has been fully interested in wilderness survival.  He learned a lot about survival last summer at an AVID for Adventure camp, watches survival shows and practices cutting down wood and starting fires (in our fireplace) at our mountain place.  He's been begging me to take him backpacking, so while LT was away at camp, we planned a trip with his friend and that friend's mom.  We went to Fancy Lake.  It was steep, and buggy, and rugged and poured rain, but we had the best time.  No one complained about their heavy packs, or the fact that we forgot the gas to cook our food (in fact, they loved inventing new foods with what we did have, the favorite being raw ramen tacos).  We hiked about 2 miles, set up camp, and the continued the rest of the way up to the most magical lake before heading back down to our camp.

Once back at the campsite, these two wandered off and soon came back lugging chopped wood to build furniture (a table, chairs and a place to put our array of food).

And in an attempt to play on a floating log, inevitably feel in a mountain pond.

Some Mom Fun

Sometimes I feel like a full time bus driver, shuttling my kids from place to place and spending countless hours just driving.  Its not far from the truth, but when I look back at this summer, I have also had so much fun doing things just for me.  Above is the only picture I got from Ladies Day 2021 at our pool.  We had a huge group this year.  Its a definite highlight of each summer.
And while Brian played golf each Tuesday night this summer, I sang in the choir again.  This time, the ending performance was at Red Rocks (which was sold out for our show!)
I spent hours backstage, probably a once in a lifetime opportunity.  The dressing rooms are built into the rocks and the hallways are adorned with posters of famous singers performing at Red Rocks.  Brian brought the boys (LT was away at camp), my brothers came and some friends.  Truly such a fun experience.

Swim Team Banquet

No recent swim team banquet has been without a large rainstorm, this year was no exception.  It POURED, for a LONG time.  We stuck it out and LT came home with a trophy (the dolphin award).  Ads ended his season qualifying for A league and swimming in the state meet on the two relay teams.  LT also swam in the state meet in a few events (2 days after coming home from a sleep away camp).  B complete 7 weeks of his "swim team" and is currently practicing his "25 IM" "25 of other strokes" and "25 bobbing".  After last year, I wasn't sure what to expect of this season, but these kids had a great summer swimming.

Ice Cream with Friends

College Friend

A good college friend of mine recently moved here with her husband and 3 kids.  We met at a playground one day (LT was off at something else).  A and her oldest had met as babies, but the other kids had never met, yet it was as if they'd been best friends all along.
