Maycember

If you haven't seen this video  it is pretty funny about the chaos of May.  And very true.  These pictures were taken just Thursday and Friday this week at all the events Brian or I were supposed to attend (because Brian is the amazing dad he is, he attended most everything in addition to me). Above was A's portfolio showing.  Not pictured was his unit culmination project the next day.

 B's last day at Paddington.
B's end of the year party at his buddies house.  I caught the two of them in his little brother's crib.
LTs class had a 5th grade compliment circle in which all the kids and teachers in the class had prepared very sweet (sometimes long) pieces about each kid that they went around reading to each 5th grader.  Common themes about LT (not surprising!) were kind, thoughtful, funny, smart, good at math etc.  It was beautiful, but the boys were a little restless listening to more than an hour of compliments (see pic below)
I think in all this craziness B is feeling a bit out of control.  After a long morning struggle with him, he finally went in his room and got himself dressed (even accessorized with a necklace that I "think" was made for me but never given to me.  It says "I love you mom").  Its become his favorite regardless and he wears it often.

I sure hope these sweet boys stay friends once they start middle school.

Mother's Day Card

This year B asked his mom to ask me to take him to the store to get her something for Mother's Day. He wanted to get her a card. And this is the one he chose.

Sibling life

As an only child myself there's a lot about life with siblings that I don't really understand and am learning about only through seeing my boys grow up together. Oftentimes that leaning amounts to me being frustrated and trying to understand what the heck they are fighting about this time and more vexingly why it's something that needs to be a fight at all.

Sometimes however, I get to witness acts of brotherly love and caring that warm my heart and even make me a tiny bit wistful about growing up without someone to love and hate. A few weeks ago was one such time when B took a pretty good crash on his scooter and his brother kindly attended to him including going back to the house to get a big bandaid and carefully applying it near the site of the crash.

Peter Pan

LT and all the other 5th graders at his school performed "Peter Pan" this past week.  They split the class into two casts and each child had a more main, speaking role and a supporting role.  The costumes, set, talent was truly remarkable.  I have known a lot of these kids since Kindergarten and to see what they have grown into and their level of confidence is a true test of all the things we love about their school.  I (being me) only took two of these pictures, so I have to credit other moms for the photos.
After cast B's performance Thursday evening with his best buddies.  The show ended after 8 and then we headed to another friends house for an after party.  We left early at 10:30, but the party was still going strong.

Dumb Friends League Field Trip for B

B had his first school field trip a few days ago and I got to go on it.  We went to the dumb friends league, an animal shelter.  His class has been learning about pets and so the trip was perfect.

Mothers Day

Our annual tradition of a mothers day hike continued this year.  We were even able to do it on the actual day due to the weather being perfect.  B took off in his trail running fashion to lead the way, he's also become known as one speed B.  Afterwards we went to the French Press for brunch (mom's favorite) and then unpacked more of our house.  Little India has become our go to for mothers day dinner (a little non traditional, but so is our family).
