Dinner with Joss

Some good friends of ours moved to Stapleton (about 10 miles from our neighborhood) soon after our kids (6 weeks apart) were born. Unfortunately, we don't see them often anymore. They had us over for dinner Saturday night, which was really fun!
The kids played a little, ate a lot and then watched a little TV while the parents caught up.
Z and LT didn't mind a bit that they got to watch TV at a friends house.
Girls and boys, already separating themselves.
LT and Joss having dinner. Like all nice gentlemen, LT ate ALL his food, asked for more, then more, then more, then more, then more, then asked for a snack to take on the ride home.

Happy Adler

All kids have some word that comes to mind when you think of them. I seriously can't think of a more descriptive word for Adler than just happy. He smiles first thing in the morning and at night. He smiles when he sees LT the most, but also for anyone. He smiles when he's playing alone or when you are giving him attention. He is amazing, even when he's sick, he manages to smile, even just for a bit. He's just a happy kid.

A DOG!

Adler has just begun noticing our dogs and getting really excited when he sees them. Its really pretty sweet.
And of course, that brings mom and dad's attention to teaching him how to be gentle with them.

Choo Choo

There's really nothing like an early Sunday morning train ride, through your living room, on small wooden chairs, with Adler as the conductor.

Unloading Cabinets

After your first born has outgrown an activity, you swear you will never forget the age it was appropriate. I never thought I would forget exactly when LT got his teeth, crawled, played with certain toys etc. But... I have. Unloading cabinets is something LT used to love doing, but it wasn't until Adler's 6 month check up that I was reminded this is the age they love doing this. We have a small cabinet in our kitchen that I have filled with fun things for Adler to unload and I also have the play kitchen out with stuff for Adler to take out.
Ahhh... I found a red bowl!
Showing the bowl to LT, who is a good sport about being excited with small things his brother shows him.
LT loves cooking with Adler in their kitchen while I cook dinner. It works out perfectly, usually.
LT tasting some of his chocolata... (wish I could say/write this magical word LT came up with). We asked him what it is. He said some sort of burrito with pepermint frosting... hmmm.
Busy busy boys in whatever they are undertaking.

On being small

out
Sometimes getting dragged around to all LT's activities can really tire a little guy out.

no pictures, please
Everything is a toy, including the camera lens.

Few more from our trip

These shots are a few that my dad took with his camera.
While we were in Dunstable, the weather couldn't have been more perfect. We took the boys to the playground/track and I ran while they played. I guess Adler went on his first swing!
LT at the Butterfly museum. We loved his expression when he saw the first butterfly flying!
Steve and I.
Aunt Jayne is a teacher and loves kids. You can tell from Adler's face how she has a talent with them.
Adler was amazing on the plane both ways. Hardly a peep. This stewardess wanted to show him off and took him for a stroll. The only time he cried was when a man tried to talk to him and he got scared.

Flight Home

The boys flying their little airplanes on the big airplane.
Reading books with Brown B and blankie.
Adler playing with Grandma's glasses.

LT watching a movie. But the majority of the flight isn't pictured, the boys SLEPT, sharing a pillow, on my lap! Adler slept for about 2 hours and LT for just a short time, but it broke up the flight time a bit. It was a wonderful trip and the boys did great traveling.

Butterflies, fly far far away

My dad, aunt and I took LT to the Butterfly museum that is not far from my grandparents house in Dunstable. I wasn't sure how LT would respond, either he would love it or be afraid. He started out unsure of how he felt. He observed, as he does with most everything, for a long time.
And watched them fly around.

And watched.
And looked.
And then one flew and landed on him and we were done. He did, however, love the gift shop.

Moonsand and Rototilling

The Easter bunny brought LT some moonsand. It says on the package something like "less messy than playdough". I would argue differently. After opening the package, my grandma suggested that LT play with it only on the patio. I couldn't agree more. It was quite messy and got all over the floor. The weather was perfect in MA for being outside anyway, so everything worked out.
LT was enjoy his early morning moonsand party when all of a sudden he was frightened by a different noise. I came out to help figure out what the noise was and saw great-grandpa rototilling the garden with his big machine. After the mystery of where the noise was coming from was solved, LT stood back and watched for quite awhile.
Great Grandpa walking from one garden plot to the next.
He's amazing, still working long hard hours and growing lots of yummy food.
The Easter bunny also brought lots of fun new cars which were great assets to the moonsand.

Easter Brunch

Not only were all 30 of us at grandma's birthday party, but we all managed to make it to a beautiful Easter brunch on Sunday morning. Out of my first cousins, there are only 3 girls and 7 boys. Of those, several of us have children and only two of those are girls. Thus, not a lot of female presence. But, as always, the girls hovered around the tiniest baby, who this year happened to be Adler.
Jamie, Maya and baby Adler, who seems to be enjoying himself just fine.
Uncle Steve, "smiling for the blog" as he said before I took this picture.
Grammy and Grandpa.
There was a huge buffet at this hotel for brunch. My aunt took LT to get his food and he was so excited that there were eggs and bacon. I guess I can't complain given all the sugary options he could have chosen.
We were trying to take a picture of the boys and I in front of this ice sculpture of a bunny, but holding 60 plus lbs of babies isn't too easy!
LT met his first easter bunny. He wasn't too sure about it until the rabbit gave him some chocolate and he whispered "thanks" back.

Four generations.
The brunch wore this kid out, he was sound asleep in his car seat seconds after putting him in it after brunch.

Party Time!

The boys are getting to be so much fun together. Adler isn't just a lump anymore. They are just goofy together. One night we were in Dunstable, they were just playing in bed, for a LONG time. I think it was 1:30 before we went to bed, but we were all enjoying each others company so much that I couldn't complain. Here are some late night shots of the jam jam party.

Birthday Girl

On Saturday night, the entire crew (my mom and her siblings, their significant others, and all my first cousins and their offspring and significant others) had a huge party at my aunt Jayne's house for grandma. Jayne lives in a beautiful home with a huge deck. The weather was warm enough that we were able to enjoy some fresh air outside while eating lots of yummy munchies. I didn't take as many pictures at the party as I would have liked, but here are a few.
Grandma looking young as always.
Uncle Steve and Adler.
Grandpa and Uncle Dick.
LT managed to squeeze in between his great grandparents while we chatted on skype to my cousin Tim in Taiwan.
Papa talking to Tim on the computer.
Grandma holding the two crazy boys.
Cousin Curtis and Steve joining in on the skype conversation.
Grandma scored with all the wonderful presents she received (a new computer, a digital frame with all the great grandkids pictures, lots of beautiful flowers, an edible fruit arrangement...), but I think Adler was just as happy with all the ribbon off the presents. I must have caught the one second he was unsure.
Thank you Jayne for hosting such a wonderful birthday party (and everyone who helped put it on!) and most of all happy happy birthday to Grandma!
