More First Day

I took a few more first day photos.  One with the dog in it.

In front of the school on the first day.
And the moms had freedom to go for a hike.  This big guy was on our trail which made it more interesting.

1st days of school

LT started high school on Monday (9th Grade Academy was a couple weeks ago but regular school started in earnest this week). I didn't make him take a first day photo and he didn't volunteer. This photo of him getting ready to leave while his little brother eats breakfast in fox jammies was the only pic I took that morning. He rode his bike to school and met up with a friend on the way, who's mom took a photo of the two of them and shared it with the parents.

The younger two started on Tuesday and we got this typical first day photo of them. We tried for one with the dog too but she decided to make a run at the camera just as I was taking the photo.

Granby with the Cousins

Between swim team, camps and LT starting high school, we had trouble fitting in any sort of actual trip, but we did manage to rent a house in Granby with my brother, his kids and my nephew from Seattle (for one of the nights).  We did tons of hiking, a few mountain bike rides, art and just hanging out together.

first ride on the new bike

B had outgrown his 16" bike and the hand-me-down in the next size is a bit long in the tooth (it came from their older cousin and both brothers have used it). We tried it for a couple weeks (shown below strapped on the top of the car on its final outing) and encountered several mechanical issues in just that short time. It's also really heavy and clunky by today's standards. So we decided to bite the bullet and get a new bike. His little bike worked well for him so we went with the next bigger size of the same thing. The box was delivered last night. We assembled it this morning and he rode with me while I took Lexi for a run.

6th grade trip to Snow Mountain Ranch

A couple photos that were sent home to parents from the 6th grade trip at the end of last school year show AC being his usual social self.

Last week of Summer (in Denver)

While LT had half day school this week, the other two had nothing going on in the morning.  It was a good chance for them to just be kids and build with boxes, bake, play Legos and inevitably make a huge mess.  After June and July when we rushed from place to place, it was a nice change of pace.

And my nephew arrived on Wednesday, which has been fun for these guys to hang out and play with.

LT at HS

A friend of mine took this after she dropped the kids off one day this week.

Lake Camp Summer Camp Year 3

In addition to lots of hiking, we did some other lake camp summer camp arts and crafts as well as went paddle boarding (not many photos taken.)

Tenderfoot Mountain

We got in some good miles hiking this past week.  This was another hike we all did (Lexi not in photos, but was there).  It was beautiful, above Dillon Resevoir and mostly shaded.  There was also hardly anyone on the trail, unusual for the trails anymore.

Shrine Pass

A good friend of mine from college and her family were in town last week.  We met them at Shrine Pass for a beautiful hike.  Unfortunately I think B had altitude sickness and had to stay back with Brian.  But Lexi, LT, Ads and I got to hang out with her and hike.

LT starts high school

LT started high school today (freshman academy to be precise, then a week off, then actually starts).  We asked him where he wanted to go to dinner last night and he chose the Cherry Tomato (Ads had already made plans to have his buddy spend the night, so naturally she came with us).  About halfway through our dinner, torrential rain started up and literally turned 23rd Ave into a river (a foot or so deep and flowing so quickly).  The waiter told us to just stay, so we waited out the storm.  Once the rain subsided, we thought we were good to go, but the flowing water continued in the street and we had to cross it to get to our car.  We all took off our shoes, Brian carried B.  At one point, LT dropped both his flip flops and they were floating down the road, luckily not too fast and he was able to grab them.  As Ads friend said, "Well, this will be a night we all remember".

And this was the only photo I got, I snapped it after I dropped LT and his friend off.  All the freshman waiting outside East on their first day.
