First Full Family Backpack Trip

We spent all of last week in the mountains (between swim team and LT starting high school, and insane flight prices, we couldn't find the time or money to do any big trips this summer), which was so wonderful!  The big kids had each been backpacking (Ads with me and friends last summer, and LT with his friends family), and I have been many times, but B, Brian and Lexi had never been.  We decided to give it a go as a family and see how things went.  It wasn't without hiccups (we got lost at one point, and the lightening and rain at night was a little close for comfort), but overall it was a success and fun!
We went to Mohawk Lakes, outside of Breckenridge.  Unfortunately with all the rain, the trails were closed in sections and quite confusing.  But it was still a fun trail to lots of interesting sites.

We wanted to make sure we had a water source, and this trail was perfect, following a stream and lakes all the way up.

About halfway up is an abandoned cabin and several broken mine shafts.  They were a perfect stop for snacks and rest.

Despite the rain being a challenge, the wildflowers were beautiful and lined the whole trail.
