Seven years ago yesterday, just as my lovely wife Kari was going into labor, I decided that I needed to go up on the roof to de-winterize our evaporative cooler for the summer. Great idea, huh? I've learned a thing or two about being a husband and father since then (and still have a lot to learn). It all turned out okay though - I didn't fall off the roof (that time), we made it to the hospital with plenty of time to spare, and LT was born the next morning. And the house was nice and cool when we brought our new baby home from the hospital a few days later.
