First day in Munich

Our first full day in Munich was a little rainy and chilly.  We decided to go to the Deutsches Museum which is enormous.  We waited in a very long line to get in and then it was pretty packed.  I'm not a big fan of museums, but this had been recommended and given the rain that day, we decided to go.  I think the kids enjoyed it, though unfortunately all the captions were in German, so we were unsure of what everything was.

While everyone slept well the first night, little B was still exhausted from the travel, the time change and the long day at a museum.
Beer Gardens are no joke in Germany.  They are a common ground for people to meet and socialize for hours.  We found one that was about a mile and a half from our hotel and we walked to it the first night we were there.  It was huge, filled with adults and kids.  Kids played on the playground while the adults drank, ate and socialized.  The first night, we weren't sure what we were doing and so I attempted to order us dinner.  But again, the menu was only in German and the man helping me spoke no English and was completely annoyed that I was holding up the line.  As we returned to our table, with two full chickens and some french fries, we watched many others enjoying the picnic food they brought with them, only purchasing beer.  Seeming easier, the second night we thought we had it all figured out (remember it had been pretty rainy on our second day), so we stopped by the local market, bought dinner food and I was planning on getting a beer at the beer garden.  When we arrived, the place was empty.  Maybe 3 or 4 other small groups were at tables scattered, but the food was closed as were the drinks.  We still aren't sure why it was closed, or how anyone might find out when its closed (google maps still said it was open), but clearly the Americans didn't get the memo.  We ate our picnic dinner anyway and headed home.

Europe 2019!

Our second family adventure to Europe began in late July.  An hour before we needed to leave for the airport, Ads spiked a pretty high fever.  Brian rushed around trying to find an urgent care that didn't have a wait, with no luck.  So, despite my typical overcautious ways of not spreading germs, we gave him motrin and tylenol (alternating) and hopped on the 10 hour flight to Munich.  He was a trooper through it all.
B was very excited to open his travel tote his brothers made and Baba bought him.
I bet Brian never imagined having a pink water bottle and frog backpack hooked to his backpack as he traveled, but... life with kids.
After landing we checked into our hotel room (only one of two were ready), and all 5 of us napped on a king sized bed.  Ads was no better when he woke up, so we headed to the German ER (Kinderklinik). It was confirmed that he had strep (the experience was not only really easy, but pretty reasonable).  We taxied home to the hotel, picked up antibiotics and headed to what would be the first of many German beer garden adventures.

Hammonds Candy Factory

I just have B and LT this week, Ads is with Baba for the week!  We have had a lot of fun doing various activities, but one day I took them to the Hammonds Candy factory.  B had never been and LT and I hadn't been since we went with our cousin several years ago.

Of course you have to get the biggest possible candy after the tour.
Post tour, post lollipop.

Volcanoes!

B is really fascinated by volcanoes.  We spent an afternoon this week building them, reading about them and coloring them.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and a terrible picture

The broadway show was amazing!  I had pretty low expectations considering how much I love love love the original movie.  The adult humor was entertaining and the updated characters were remarkable.  I highly recommend it if it comes to you!

Birthday fun

I had such a fun birthday weekend this year, but one of the best parts was an outdoor concert with lots and lots of fun friends for us and for the kids.  B has to put up with a lot being the youngest, but he also kind of likes the attention he gets (in this case being tickled) by the big kids and their friends.

Life with B and a Fuzzy chair

B has gotten very into superheros (new for us) and dressing up.  Its rare that we leave the house without some type of cape (he has 5 to choose from, but leans towards wearing a blue one almost everyday)

A few weeks ago the boys and I were at Target and saw the fuzziest most comfortable chair.  None of us could stop thinking about it and finally we just went online, saw it was on sale and ordered it.  And its been loved and fought over (in a good way).  Brian wanted to do "store pick up", which was great in theory until we realized the store he had to pick it up at was in Lone Tree.

VV nights

The past few summers we have had dinner at VV about once a week, but given the cold weather earlier in the summer, we hadn't been until this week when we met some friends there.  And ran into B's teacher (below).  And wanted an upside down superman pic with dad (also below)

"Life Raft"

We put this lycra climbing gym in our basement when we moved back in.  B calls it the "life raft".  Its been a hit amongst our kids as well as all other kids who come to play

4th

On the way to 4th of July festivities at the pool.

Breaststroke

The boys had a swim meet today.  The last time A swam 50 breast at the Stapleton pool, he jumped in and accidentally swam freestyle (of which he quickly corrected, but was DQd, and laughed while he was swimming about).  Today, this wasn't the case.  He swam a beautiful 50 right next to one of his best buds from his old class, and a kid he swims year round with.

Zoo Dayz

Yesterday LT was at camp all day and the younger two and I were sitting around trying to figure out a plan in the afternoon when our friends (the baby I watched) asked if we wanted to go to the zoo.  It was perfect timing and (mostly) perfect weather.  We rode the train, carousel and got ice cream.

And B passed out a few minutes after getting in the car to pick up LT.
