First day in Munich

Our first full day in Munich was a little rainy and chilly.  We decided to go to the Deutsches Museum which is enormous.  We waited in a very long line to get in and then it was pretty packed.  I'm not a big fan of museums, but this had been recommended and given the rain that day, we decided to go.  I think the kids enjoyed it, though unfortunately all the captions were in German, so we were unsure of what everything was.

While everyone slept well the first night, little B was still exhausted from the travel, the time change and the long day at a museum.
Beer Gardens are no joke in Germany.  They are a common ground for people to meet and socialize for hours.  We found one that was about a mile and a half from our hotel and we walked to it the first night we were there.  It was huge, filled with adults and kids.  Kids played on the playground while the adults drank, ate and socialized.  The first night, we weren't sure what we were doing and so I attempted to order us dinner.  But again, the menu was only in German and the man helping me spoke no English and was completely annoyed that I was holding up the line.  As we returned to our table, with two full chickens and some french fries, we watched many others enjoying the picnic food they brought with them, only purchasing beer.  Seeming easier, the second night we thought we had it all figured out (remember it had been pretty rainy on our second day), so we stopped by the local market, bought dinner food and I was planning on getting a beer at the beer garden.  When we arrived, the place was empty.  Maybe 3 or 4 other small groups were at tables scattered, but the food was closed as were the drinks.  We still aren't sure why it was closed, or how anyone might find out when its closed (google maps still said it was open), but clearly the Americans didn't get the memo.  We ate our picnic dinner anyway and headed home.
