Week 16- Camp Lake Summer Camp Week 2- cultural studies

We spent week 16 in the mountains, again.  We spent a lot of time hiking, exploring, and mostly riding scooters around our area.   In our non outdoor time, I planned out a week of culture studies.  We learned about Indonesia, Tanzania, Peru and Thailand.  Each day, mostly, was a country, where we learned about the general culture, their art, native games, an animal that is native and we made some native foods.
We visited our fort often, but the boys really enjoyed making it to bridges (there are several bridges on our hike and making it to each one was a daily goal).

As was getting the daily Summit newspaper.
LT is a full on teen now and this look is in 99% of my photos.   We learned about komodo dragons during our day about Indonesia.

 We also did Batik.

On our day about Tanzania, we made African drums, watched the most dangerous ways to school, learned about giraffes and made a Tanzanian stew and bread.

Hard to see, but a deer ran right in front of us during one of our hikes.

This was our typical snack stop, after bridge 2 or 3 depending on which route we took.

B often liked to trail run, at one point, we got a lot further ahead of the big guys and I looked back to see them just chatting on the trail behind us.

LT teaching the youngest about music.
We made a Peruvian game called "Sapu" and then played it.

We also learned about Machu Pichu and made Peruvian masks.

Friday is field trip friday.  Since it was also our day about Thailand, I rented boats.  It was a little hectic and crowded at the check in, but once we were out on the lake, it was relaxing and beautiful.
