Week 8

The boys have been measuring time in funny ways.  Mom, have we been home half of a usual summer?  Like 5 trips to Mexico?  How many winter breaks?  Ugh, yes, yes, yes.  And more.  And who knows how much longer.  There is no checking off days on a calendar until we resume to "normal" (whatever that may be).
When you have kids there is the saying that, "the days are long, but the years go by fast".  I've never felt that so much as I do now.  My goal is to keep kids off of fun screen time until 3 during the week.  They are still on zoom classes, and we watch CNN 10 each day, and take drawing lessons online.   So much screen time, but that feels different than just playing video games for hours on end.  At some point in this quarantine I made the arbitrary decision that making it to 3 felt like the right choice.   Its worked for the most part, but some days getting to 3 feels like years.  And yet as I write this it has been nearly 60 days of being at home, 2 months, 8 weeks.  That time has gone really fast.
Brian and I reflect on this time daily and today he asked me if I know anyone who has covid.  I don't.  Not now at least.  I only know one person who knows a distant person who has it.  That's pretty far removed, and yet our entire world is turned upside down.  Our lives are forever changed.  I know this is real, not some conspiracy theory as many believe.  We have many friends that are Drs and nurses and their stories are horrifying (learning how to put covid bodies into special body bags, stillbirth rates are up, little to not enough personal protective equipment etc).  With the number of cases surging, its strange that we don't know anyone who has tested positive (that doesn't mean we don't know people who have had it, or currently have it).  Maybe in time we will, maybe not, but we will continue to do what scientists and drs feel is safest at this point and socially distance ourselves and stay home.  And with that, here's how we entertained ourselves this week:
Wednesday was a big day.  We left the house for 1.5 hours of errands.  B's friends mom made him a special lizard mask which we picked up, it was my friends birthday so we went to Cake Crumbs to pick up treats (the kids stayed in the car while I went in and during that time, B tried on his adorable mask), then we went to stanley to pick up supplies for Ads (the teachers did a drive through bag pick up with tons of fun stuff and library books for the kids to borrow), and finally we dropped the treats and coffee off for my friend's birthday before heading home.  It felt strange to go someplace, especially so many places.
Ads got so much fun stuff!  A jump rope, googly eyes, workbooks, science supplies, art supplies and so much more were all handed to each kid (in a drive through, teachers masked and 6 feet apart of course).  I am so grateful for all their school has done to make this time feel less stressful and keep the kids connected to the school, their teachers and their peers.
Science Thursday.  Same activity, but we added lemons and limes to see how things changed.

 May 3rd bananas.
 May 6.
On Friday we let LT have a friend come over for an hour (socially distanced 10 feet apart, outside etc).  I think they enjoyed seeing each other in person.  Afterwards, we rode his friend home on bikes.
We got some new weights this week and Ads and B tested them out on Friday night.

And even inspired Ads and B to join in with our Saturday online workout class.

B was up earlier than the other two today so he helped me make biscuits.  The scraps are the best part.
