Our first full day in Fajardo started with a 5:30 AM pick up for an adventure into El Yunque (the national rainforest in Puerto Rico). My friend had done this excursion and said it was a highlight of their trip, turned out to be the same for us.
We joined two other families and a guide who took us on a hike while also explaining the natural wonders of the forest including medicinal plant life and other interesting facts. B LOVED this and led the way with the guide.
This was not a tour for the weak or fearful as we trudged through rivers, swung from ropes into the water, plunged 20 feet off rocks and rode a natural water slide. It sure was a blast though.
The whole group that went with us. We were the only ones there (which is why this tour leaves so early). By the time we were headed home, the trails were packed and it was too crowded to really enjoy.
