Day 9

Day 9 was jam packed with lots of sites to see and many many steps taken.  We started at the black beaces where these pillar stones are adorned with puffins!

We then went to Skogofoss (foss means waterfall).  The sun was shining just right for a beautiful rainbow.  As you can see, this is quite a popular site.

Many tourists come to the waterfall and view it from the bottom, lots climb steep stairs to the top to view it from above, but fewer continue down the 20 mile hike at the top of dizzingly steep canyons with many many waterfalls.  We continued for about 2.5 miles, the crowds thinned, the views and quiet took over and all of us were proud of how far we made it!
B documented each waterfall with a photo by the name of them.  In addition to these large falls are lots of smaller ones, unnamed.

We decided to turn around at this cairn.  I couldn't choose one family photo, B's face is priceless in every one of them.

After finishing that hike, we continued on down the road to another waterfall, this one you can walk behind (and get dumped on!)

After viewing the one above (and getting soaked) we meandered down the path and Ads realized there was much more to explore.  We found a cave and then a little further, this little opening that you can walk on the edge of on rocks (and hope you don't fall in!) and it leads to the view below.

Tired and happy, we found our way to our home for the next two nights.  It was the best spot to end our trip.  The host was lovely and lived next door on a horse farm.  She took the kids to visit the horses.
