Week 12- Camp Lake Summer Camp week 1 plus some more

The end of school was different for sure.  The school hosted a drive through parade to say goodbye to all the teachers (who were lined up 6 plus feet apart masked to say goodbye to all the kids).  We handed in the kids chrome books and picked up their year books as we were there.  Different, but at the same time a great way to close out the school year in a safe way.

As the school year ended and camps started being canceled for the summer, I decided I would host an "old school" camp in the mountains for our kids to try and bring some fun to a strange summer.  Brian took the week off and declared himself the "counselor in training".  The older kids named the camp "Camp Lake Summer Camp"based on Captain Underpants.  Each morning we took the kids on a hike and the followed with a morning activity, lunch, meditation and a second afternoon activity.  Often times we watched a you tube video to give some instructions for our afternoon activity (though as everyone can attest, I hadn't watched them before and they were often pretty funny).  The first morning activity was to make our camp shirts, we tie dyed 6 shirts for each kid.

The first afternoon activity was to begin making pinatas.

The second morning we made balsa wood bridges.

On Wednesday morning we took the kids on a more substantial hike and drove to the trailhead.  Its quickly become a family favorite hike, ending at a lake where the kids love throwing sticks and rocks into the water.

When B started getting tired, LT played a game with him where they were trying to step only on rocks or sticks.

We took lots of breaks at various points along the hike to play in the water.

 The kids painted rocks.

I found quite a lot of selfies by B.
The pinata took 3 of our "periods".  The final was to paint them.

And our baking activity was to make homemade soft pretzels.

We didn't take photos of everything because Brian and I put down our phones for most of the week to be present with the kids.  We all had so much fun that the kids are asking for a few more weeks of Camp Lake Summer Camp in the mountains this summer.
We drove home Friday for LT's birthday.  Baba stopped by first, then later grandma and papa.

We stopped on the way home to pick up a cake for him.
And in the evening LT's best bud Z came over with his family to sit 6 plus feet apart in our backyard and enjoy take out tag burger and cake.

And from grandparents and us, LT asked for all the pieces to build his own computer.
