Birth Day (part 1)!

LT turned two yesterday. To celebrate we asked him what he wanted to do, he said, "z coming". You can't deprive a two year old of what they want on their birthday, so we invited the Gallego crew over for dinner (Albert's parents are in town as well, so they joined the festivities). Shawn wanted Albert's parents to meet my parents and so Grandma and Papa came too. It turned out to be a large, crazy party. The dinner/desert part was pretty tame, but the night got a bit crazier (crazy for 2 year olds at least...) as the night progressed.

I tried to make a dinner that was yummy for everyone, but included some of LTs favorites. It was definitely a random assortment, but somehow all fit together nicely (at least I think so!) I thought I had overshot on the food, but when we found out (happily!) that my brother and sister in law were actually not out of town and could make it for dinner, it turned out to be the perfect amount of food. On the menu: Artichokes (neither Brian or I ate these at age 2, but LT LOVES them and understands how to actually eat the meat part off the leaves), chicken/artichoke and mozarella hot dogs (not a favorite of LTs last night apparently because he wouldn't touch them, but he ate an entire one at Zs house not too long ago), fruit (Z's favorite), homemade sweet potato fries, a yummy salad with my new found favorite homemade dressing, potato chips, and of course peach pie with ice cream for desert! Here are the boys eating, Z ate anything as long as it was fully coated in ketchup and LT ate only artichoke leaves and sweet potato fries. I think they knew what was coming later and were saving lots of room in their bellies for birthday desert.
He already knows to discard the leaves to the side after all the good stuff is gone (usually on the floor or table, but its a start).
Z taking a break from the food and playing with Muck truck and yellow race car.
Bernice, Albert's mom, telling Madeleine the amazing baseball card story!
Boys anxiously awaiting their pie and ice seeeeem and peees (peach) pie!
LT didn't pause for a moment from eating his ice cream when his cousin Nicholas called to wish him a happy birthday. Luckily Papa held up the phone to his ear so he could continue eating.
LT was pretty sad that the candle blowing out was over, but focused on getting the candle back in the pie in hopes that it would be lit again (which we did). After all, this was just a practice birthday for the boys, their big two year old bashes are today and tomorrow! They have to be pros at blowing out candles and singing Happy Birthday (Z has this one down, LT not so much).
Enjoying lots and lots of ice cream!
As I said in the beginning, this little party turned a bit crazier after dinner and ice cream so it requires two blog postings, more to come soon!
