It's been a minute

Some moments from the last five or six weeks.

"A turkey taco sandwich!"

Fishing with cousins.

A dinner pickup helper.

A backyard birthday celebration for B turning five.

Another backyard birthday celebration of the big 5.

Enjoying the spoils of turning 5.

Hiking.

Splinter removal procedure by an older brother.

Sending voter registration reminder postcards.

Sometimes things don't go exactly your way.

And sometimes your dad and brother help you build a dinosaur hotel.

The kids helped (to varying degrees) drain the pool.

A backyard birthday celebration for Baba, who is somewhat older than 5.

Activities with these two almost always involve cardboard boxes and this playdate was no exception.

We didn't have the right candles to make eleven so he put ten on the cake (he made himself) and declared it to be in honor of ten's retirement.

The morning after the back yard sleepover campout.

And the incident the morning after the back yard sleepover campout.

Preschool drop off.

Vacuuming and or playing with toys.

Week 30

This was a busy week, with very few pictures.  We had regular school (all 3 kids), regular work (brian), flu shots (all 5 of us), a birthday party (ads), another birthday party (mom), dinner club (mom), a school dance (LT), a zoo play date (B), swim lessons (B), swim team (Ads and LT), mountain biking (Brian), a backyard playdate (B), park volleyball with friends (LT and ads),  lots of running (mom and dad), zoom updates from school (mom), dinner with uncle Steve, and good friends over for dinner in our yard.   Somehow all of this was covid friendly.  All the birthday parties, dinners, swimming, running, the zoo, the school dance were outdoors and masked.  With a little flexibility and creativity, life in some ways has felt more normal lately.  And yet, I, we, are exhausted from trying to navigate each and every decision to ensure its worth the risk and feels like a safe risk.
This debate was slightly better, but also watching it outdoors with friends made it more enjoyable.
B just let his friend drive the tuk tuk and the zoo and was lounging in the back.
Ads head healed really well!

And LT let me french braid his hair :)

Week 29- B turns 5!

B turned 5 yesterday!  Because of coronavirus, things looked different this year.  On Monday we took his good friend to get ice cream to celebrate.
And then a few days later, I found a few videos on my phone from Mr. B.  So sweet:

With the impending election and the current situation in our country, I was feeling a bit anxious (not in an unhealthy way, but with energy ready to do something to try and make a difference).  I started texting and writing postcards in an attempt to change things and make our country better for our kids.
And the glue that was holding Adler's hair which was holding the wound shut, was starting to bother him, so we shaved what we could out, leaving a pretty funny bald spot.

B also had a little birthday celebration after school one day with a friend of his friends in the park.

And the big kids had their last dry lands and swim practice at the Lowry pool on Wednesday last week.  I was admiring how they were all working very hard despite wearing masks in the heat outside while I sat in my air conditioned car reading my book.  I ultimately felt lazy and ended up going for a pretty long walk.
If you have two watch a debate between these two, there is no better place to do it than outside on a big screen while roasting marshmallows.
We celebrated B's birthday with my brother, his kids and my parents later in the week.

And B was up bright and early on his birthday ready to open presents as soon as he could.
We surprised him with tickets to a pumpkin festival (which ended up being pretty lame).  He was most excited about the pumpkin "patch", which was just a small field of pumpkins.

And today was haircut day.  Our wonderful haircutter comes to our yard, and brings her 5 year old daughter with her.  B ran inside, drew this flower, cut it out and handed it to the little girl.
