Skiing for the last kid

B has wavered between wanting to ski "right now" and "when I'm 4".  Given the number of times we are in the mountains this winter, we figured it was worth it just to get him some gear and try when he wants to and we are up there.  We all took him last weekend and got some skis and boots.

And this weekend we were already up in Keystone.  On Saturday, Ads was with a friend ice skating for the day, LT and Brian went skiing and B and I had planned on just hanging out, but then he really wanted to ski.  So we did.  It took us about an hour, but we got all our stuff on, headed down to the bus stop (me carrying two sets of skis and a 3 year old with heavy boots) and waited for the bus.  Eventually we made it to the mountain.  I put him on his skis just to test it out on a small slope.  He slid down the hill, smiling and laughing and asked to do it again, and again, and again.   After 10 minutes of this, he asked to go up on the magic carpet, which we did.  Again, he was smiling and laughing the whole way up and the whole way down.  We did that a few times and then he announced he was ready to be back in our condo.  It was a total of about 45 minutes of skiing, over two hours of carrying, lugging, bus riding, putting on/taking off gear etc, but I'd say all in all it was a successful first day for this guy!
