dispatches from across the pond

The 8th graders weren't allowed to take their phones or any connected devices on the England trip. So, other than one allotted phone call home (like jail?!), we had to rely on the daily email update and social media from the school to follow their adventures. I borrowed the photos from those sources that Ads showed up in and included them here. 

State

 

LT qualified for state in the 50 free and was also on all three relays for their team. They swam well and mostly dropped time but high school state is pretty competitive and none of their team managed to make it to the finals. Their closest effort was the 200 free relay where they tied (down to the hundredth of a second) for the last spot in finals but, despite improving on their time, came up just short in a swim-off.

Last days of soccer

B has the carried the family mantle of being just not very good at soccer (neither his brothers nor parents had much aptitude for the game). So I think we'll all be okay without soccer in our lives. But he and I did start to feel a little nostalgic as what will probably be his final season just came to an end. I took a few photos (of the carpool to practice and him playing goalie in one of the last games) and he put together a little collection of memorabilia.

League

LT swam in the HS league swim meet Friday and Saturday.  He did really well in both prelims and finals.  He dropped a lot of time in his events and his relays both did very well also.

 

Playdate for the youngest

B has become good friends with a kid in his class.  Friday I took the two of them out to lunch (they had a half day), and then we went to Dave and Busters.

 

Bri's birthday

As is with everything in our family, two of our kids were gone for Brian's actual birthday evening.  B had voices rock (but slid in at the last minute for cake) and LT had a team dinner.  We did, however, have A's friend which made for a fun celebration.  As a family we all went out to dinner 2 days early, but not photos were taken.
