LT Skis

So sometimes I fall a little behind on posting photos and things. A little. For example, getting new ski gear for LT recently reminded me that I had a bunch of pictures of him skiing last season that I hadn't put up yet. So here are some shots from last February. Better late than never.

LT hasn't exactly shown tons of athletic ability so far in his life. But there are a few areas where he has shown some potential and skiing is one of them. More importantly though is that he really seems to like it. I think he skied fourteen days last season. I can't remember the last time I got that many days in. He's definitely still a beginner but, after I gave up the idea of teaching him and we got him in legitimate lessons, he really did great for a five year old in his first year.

Telluride & Apples

We went to Telluride last month for a wedding and made a stop on the way there to pick apples at a little farm/orchard along the way. Despite eating a few while we were picking, we ended up with 23lbs of apples!

the 'molished house

Here's Adler watching the work at "the 'molished house" two doors north of our old house. The move to our new place has mostly gone really smoothly for everyone. But Adler was pretty devastated when he found out the house to the south of our old place was going to be torn down too and he wouldn't be able to watch the work in action.

FROYO!

3rd birthday redux

Adler's birthday was in September and he did have a party with his friends but we also had some family celebration dinners at Billy's (above) and White Fence Farm (below).  Sometimes pictures I take with my phone get forgotten about for a while and that's why these photos from September are just now getting posted..

Modern Family

Adler: "What are you looking at mommy?"
Kari: "Facebook. What are you looking at Adler?"
Adler: "Trash trucks!"

Table for seven

We had some friends over to the new house last week and amazingly at one point all seven boys sat at the table for dinner.

Thing 1 and Thing 2

Several weeks ago LT decided what we'd all be for Halloween this year and he hasn't swayed a bit from his idea. He and Adler are Thing 1 and Thing 2 while I'm the Cat in the Hat. Kari gets to be the big red box that Thing 1 and Thing 2 come in. We're still working on the box part but, thanks to some help from Grandma, we've got the other costumes figured out nicely.

Ironically I was out of town for work during my work's Halloween party on Thursday but Kari and the boys went anyway. Without me there, I guess LT was okay with her being the Cat rather than the box.

Yesterday we all drove back to the old neighborhood to go trick-or-treating on Tennyson Street.

Gov Park

We recently moved back to Capital Hill.  Governors Park is a park full of memories for Brian and I, mostly of walking Hailie when she was a puppy and letting her play here.  Yesterday was a beautiful fall afternoon and we met some friends here to play before going to another old favorite, Benny's.

"The Broken Tree"

Earlier this summer a tree a few houses down from us was struck by lighting. I'm not sure what I expected such a tree would look like but this sure wasn't it. The tree was a point of curiosity for all of us but Alder became somewhat obsessed with it. He would talk about it often and want to tell everyone about it. I took the picture above with my phone and he knew the photo was on there so he'd often ask me to take out my phone and show people the "broken tree." He'd also want to look at it at least once every night before bed.

The tree is a couple houses down from us and right next to what he calls the "dog house." The home earned that name from Adler because it has a chain link fence that comes right up to the sidewalk and dogs that bark at passersby. Adler really loves to go look at the tree but really doesn't like the dog house, which has been a major source of tension in the little guy's life.

Just recently a developer has demolished the house that had the broken tree in its front yard. Adler has named that hose "the 'molished house" and all the activity there seems to have finally won his interest away from the broken tree. But the broken tree was definitely a big part of the latter half of our summer and early fall.

Adler's 3rd Birthday!

Adler had his 3rd birthday party yesterday. We did it at Hyland Hills Gymnastics again this year which is a fun and (relativity) easy place to host a party. I'm not sure who had more fun - the birthday boy or his brother (or maybe even their dad) but I am pretty sure everyone had a good time.

This year I decided to mostly just stick to taking photos of my own kids.
