Surprise Snow Day!

Wednesday evening, Brian and I took Lexi for a walk after dinner.  Suddenly, it started snowing, HARD.  I went to bed not thinking much about it, but woke up in the morning to notifications that school was canceled.   A foot of snow, no school = sled day!   Luckily our neighbors had the same idea, so the kids and I met them at the park for a few hours of perfect sledding (Lexi joined of course).

Solar System

The younger two have been studying the solar system-both in school and just out of interest.  B built the solar system out of magna tiles.
And sometimes just snuggling with your brother is fun.

Before and After

Before skiing photo (such enthusiasm).
Brian took B on Friday (and made a lot of progress, but it was FREEZING) while I took the big kids.  The big guys had skied with some friends the week before and wanted to ski the same thing, but the weather was really windy and extremely cold (and the snow not great).  We managed a few fun runs, but then headed back towards the bottom and just skied laps while we waited for B.

The after shot.  Same lack of excitement and one crashed out kid.

Paper Airplanes

We saw my parents on Christmas, outside, masked, but that was the last time until this week.  A family friend died 2 days after Christmas (from Covid) and we all took a few steps back and realized that we needed to be extra cautious again.  But, my parents are fully vaccinated! and so my brother and I took our kids over for a short time this past week (masked) and they all had a blast flying paper airplanes together.

Valentines Day 2021

I can't remember a year that Brian and I didn't go out to dinner for Valentines day (never on the 14th, but around then).  This year, we obviously didn't, but Brian did pick up yummy take out from our favorite restaurant in the mountains for us, and Chipolte for the kids.  While he was gone, B and I made placemats and got out our "fancy" glasses (plastic).  After dinner we all had chocolate fondue.

This week...

B making a book to be like his brother.  And his brother building his Valentine box ( a castle with a draw bridge of course).

Tuesday night is our date night, so the big guys put B to bed.  He loves being read to by LT and then snuggling for an audible book with Ads.
We all came up to the mountains this weekend for the 4 days off.  We had to bring both cars, so I got the two younger ones earlier in the day and then Brian brought the two olders after piano.
B has decided that when its just him and a parent up here, he gets to cookie cut out pizza dough and make his own pizza.
We skied two days this weekend, and B made a ton of progress.   It was pretty cold so I only took this one picture.
We had to have an inspection on our hot tub on Friday so we took Lexi in the car to wait while we skied.  She decided halfway home that she was going to jump onto the boys lap rather than ride in the trunk.
B did a lot of science crates, this was one about the solar system.

Ads made two fires.
LT needed to cook something from the country he is studying (Jabuti).  He made banana pancake sort of things, enjoyed by all.

More science and lots of hot tub time.

Space Odyssey!

The new Space Odyssey exhibit opened this wee at Nature and Science and so my friend and I took our kids on Friday (her kids were off school, Ads has a half day and the little ones never have school on Fridays).  Because our little ones are in the same class, and we have been running and hiking together, we have been a bit more open about letting them all play together (masked of course and mostly outside).
The wait to get into the exhibit was pretty long, but it was really fun once we were in!

Puppies

Our friends have been fostering husky puppies for the past few weeks and we finally went over today to meet them (and to let Lexi play with them).  Ads got very attached to them (our kid who never wanted a dog and was scared of them!)
Lexi towered over them, its pretty remarkable how fast she has grown!
